Truly! It’s like a treat when there’s a bonus post :) I have also been having a hard time with fall spirit this year. It’s my favorite season, but it just feels like a winter prelude this year and I’m not ready.
Love these recs! Going to see Waxahatchee at a music festival this weekend! And 100% interested in a book club! I LOVE Fall which means I have to travel to get the full experience since seasons don't really exist in SoCal. Really looking forward to a girls trip in October - we're surprising a friend in upstate New York and smuggling her to Vermont for two nights. Leef peeping and hiking! Cider Mill visits and apple cider donuts! And hopefully some lovely crisp weather. We also do a haunted hayride and host a pumpkin carving contest every year, all about spooky season!
Seeing this list pop up on my phone this morning was such a delight! As someone who is terrible at keeping track of what’s coming out next, I find these sorts of posts incredibly helpful. I’m heading out of town for the rest of the month tomorrow and this was the best reminder to finally download season 1 of Abbott Elementary and load up my kindle with new releases.

Thank you so so much for putting all of this together for us, Leslie. I had my GoodReads app open adding all of your recs as you listed them! :) I’m really excited for these movies too. I’ve felt the itch to get back to theaters. I think that Amsterdam actually comes out on Oct 7, not November 7. Only saying that because I’m anxiously awaiting its release! I’m also excited about the new George Clooney and Julia Roberts movie, “Ticket to Paradise,” coming out on Oct 21! Nothing serious -- just a fun, cute movie that I think most of us could probably use.
I knew Catherine called Birdy sounded familiar! I remember seeing on the shelf all the time grades 3-6-ish. but I don't remember if I actually read it!
This all looks incredible and I'm *especially* excited for the new Maggie O'Farrell book... but what truly blew me away is that SWIRLY BUN ohhhh my gosh what is it/where did you get it?? (I'm in CA, so I can't even get it but still!!)
Like Kelley said, today was the first day in Rhode Island where I felt that autumnal crispness in the air so today's bonus issue seemed so appropriate! I tend to resist the change from summer to fall because I just love summer so darn much, but this is a good reminder to embrace the new season and all that it brings. Looking forward to going apple picking and making apple crisp and apple butter, drinking seasonal beers at local breweries, kayaking nearby rivers and ponds to see the changing leaves, and hopefully spending a weekend or two hiking the White Mountains in NH before it gets too chilly! And, of course, digging into these book and album recommendations :)
Also based on your workout preferences, I think you would really like Studio Sculpt. It's strength/cardio based Pilates and not too far from Perenn. Very fun classes.
Amy! Just had to tell you my brother and I went to Studio Sculpt this morning!! We loved it - and everyone was so friendly! Jess was our teacher and lovely. Thank you for the rec!! 🤗 also the new perenn could not be cuter
Yay! I did Studio Sculpt on Friday and Perenn on Saturday :) those classes are surprisingly hard! Another great workout class is Swët Fitness in South Reno. The Saturday morning full body class is especially torturous. Also if you can ever catch a pop up dinner at Calafuria, do it! They used to be the best full time restaurant before Covid, but now they are just doing pop up dinners. Liberty downtown is another current fave for dinner. My friend and I recently visited Dame in Portland based on your rec - delicious!
