Morning Person is a weekly newsletter packed with obsessively-curated recommendations and ideas—let’s get to it!

📺 The Worst Person in the World (in theaters and streaming mid-March): I knew I would love this Norwegian film from the trailer alone, but was unprepared for how deeply it would impact me (to paint you the full picture: I began silently weeping the moment the credits rolled and am still struggling to put my emotions into words, two days later). So where do I begin? The movie is told in twelve chapters with eleven following Julie, mostly between 29- and 30-years-old. The chapters are largely defined by Julie’s relationships with men, as she turns 30, explores her desires around having children, changes careers, and figures out who she’s meant to be. It was impossible not to see myself in Julie and I’m confident most women my age will feel the same way. (If you’re looking for something you can stream today, may I recommend Anne+!)

🎧 “Chaise Longue” by Wet Leg: I’ve always had a soft spot for cute, dirty or sinister songs. In case you haven’t yet been initiated—the pretty or playful melodies stand in direct contrast to the pearl-clutching lyrics. See: Anya Marina’s slowed-down, sexy cover of “Whatever You Like,” Divinyls’ “I Touch Myself” and Lauren Ruth Ward’s “Make Love to Myself,” Stabwound’s “Tender,” and “Dirty Song” by Cars Can Be Blue which is genuinely too scandalizing for me to link. Wet Leg is my latest favorite artist in the (very niche) genre, full of Millenial pop culture references and teenage angst. Made you a playlist here!
