Morning Person is a weekly newsletter packed with obsessively-curated recommendations and ideas—let’s get to it!

📺 “Yellowjackets” on Showtime: It was my friend Emily’s description of “Yellowjackets” that finally made me cave on a Showtime subscription and give it a try. She said, “This really fucked up thing happens at the beginning of the first episode and then just isn’t mentioned at all, but the whole time you’re waiting for them to come back to the fucked up thing as two storylines collide.” The two storylines revolve around a women’s soccer team, and the traumatic months they spent surviving in North American wilderness, and as adults twenty-five years later. 🎧 “Bone, Marry, Bury” Podcast: In this new narrative podcast, Allie (voiced by Sarah Hyland) is jobless and newly single as she attends a New Year’s Eve party. According to her best friend and the narrator (Harvey Guillén), by the end of the month she’ll fuck, marry, and kill three different guests at the party. The first two episodes are the audio equivalent of a sitcom and a fun departure from my usual rotation of interview-heavy ‘casts.
