The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.

On Wednesday evening, I sat in a friend’s backyard sipping tea. It was definitely not tea weather, but the breeze running through her yard made it tolerable and I wanted to wrap my hands around something warm. I tucked my legs under me and told her about how I had spent the previous few days, since leaving my last class ever on Monday, fervently organizing, addressing some of the over-crammed drawers and chaotic computer files that had fallen to the wayside in the midst of school. “It sounds like you’re plowing your field before planting seeds,” she responded. And that’s exactly how the last week has felt—organizing and preparing myself for my next chapter.

This weekend, I’m heading out of town for a little offline time. Like most trips this summer, this one caught me by surprise, but I’ve been able to get my packing down to a science, thanks in large part to having my toiletries and sleep essentials ready to go, so that all I need to do is throw some clothes in a tote and head out. Here’s everything I keep packed and ready, along with some highlights from my week:
