Sunday Edition: 5 Recs I Need You to You Know About (!)

Everything I cooked, read, and wore this week.

The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.

Look who went to the vet (and my new scarf, linked in the post below!)

The thing no one tells you about having an existential crisis is how much time it eats up. I turn thirty-four later this month, a birthday that’s been weighing on me heavier than most. As my present to myself, I invested in some health screenings that, in combination with meeting with orthos about potential ankle surgery, translated to about one million doctors’ appointments this week. I got a full-body MRI through Function health as well as some blood tests (I’m in no way affiliated with them, but here’s a referral link if you’re curious!). I know, I know—the stress of overbooking myself and waiting anxiously for results is probably going to kill me a lot faster than whatever latent disease is or isn’t hanging out in my body, but I am taking some much-needed time off very soon! Until then, read on for recommendations and photos from this week, including:

  • A simple trick for buying fewer clothes

  • My new favorite way to create a workout playlist

  • One-pan salmon with parsnips, ready in 20 minutes!

  • Such a good book about grief and motherhood

  • How to feel inspired again by winter dressing!

Such a good book about grief. I found myself underlining entire paragraphs from Kimberly King Parsons’ We Were the Universe, a novel that reads almost like stream of consciousness intrusive thoughts from a new mom mourning the death of her younger sister. It felt revelatory in its exploration of grief, psychedelics, motherhood, and sex.
