The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.
I don’t think I’ve ever walked, eaten, and explored so much in one week. In Tokyo, I averaged about four hours of sleep per night, and over ten miles of walking each day (!). Listen, this isn’t a schedule I recommend, but every time I’d vow to start with a “late morning” or “head to bed early,” I would learn about another hole-in-the-wall restaurant, experience, museum, or shop that would keep me exploring. After a week, I think Tokyo may be my favorite city I’ve ever visited. I’m just in awe. Do I pull a Shoshanna from “Girls” and move here?? Take over her apartment?? Okay, I’m getting carried away, but I love it here so much.
On Friday, I pulled myself away from the city just as my body was reaching its limit, heading to the countryside to hike part of the Nakasendo Trail (a welcome respite, compared to the city exploring!), before taking the train to Kyoto, where I am now. I’m also in the midst of putting together the Morning Person Tokyo Guide, including an incredibly detailed four-day itinerary, full of the best spots I encountered. You can expect it in the next two weeks! Until then, I have some non-travel content coming for you Tuesday.
