Happy Mother’s Day! I’m currently typing this (a few hours later than usual!) from my new favorite spot on my back patio, where Toast and I have spent 99% of this week soaking up the summer weather that’s finally arrived in Portland. Haters will say it’s still a false spring, but I’m thinking sunny thoughts. The first half of the week was exceedingly calm after I drove back from visiting a friend in Seattle early Monday morning. To make up for the quiet start (balance!), I hosted not one but two parties yesterday—a bagel brunch for family friends, followed by a big cookout with about twenty friends. The back-to-back was ambitious, but it filled my cup so much to see so many friends in my home. I kept pausing on my way back from bringing in food or drink refills to take in the sight of the people I love enjoying the home I’ve created.
