The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.
I have really been flying by the seat of my pants lately, balancing endless house and personal to-dos with homework, a growing list of clients, and emails. So many emails! In the thick of it, I realized I haven’t taken a single day off in months. There have been afternoons and mornings here and there, but I genuinely can’t remember the last time I took a full day off. Maybe back in May?? It isn’t as terrible as it sounds, since I genuinely love what I do and what I’m studying, and am careful to work breaks into my days, but still. Rest is vital, and I hadn’t been doing it for any span longer than an hour or two. And so, I committed to doing nada yesterday. I made zero plans with friends, did zero homework, and didn’t even open my inbox. Instead, I did all of my favorite things at an incredibly leisurely pace, and it was glorious: I finished a book while eating breakfast, went on a beautiful hike with Toast, then made myself a cheese plate and large bowl of popcorn before settling in to watch a movie I’ve seen a thousand times (as it rained outside!). A much-needed recharge.
By the way, there are lots of new faces here thanks, in large part, to a recommendation from ’s new Substack , so I thought I’d do a quick (re)introduction! You can read more here, but the short version is: I’m a writer and editor, with a background in lifestyle and food writing, as well as recipe developing. I’m in the middle of a Master’s program in Mental Health Counseling, specializing in addictions, and last year was a big one: I separated from my husband, found a publisher for my novel, and two weeks ago, I bought a house (!). Morning Person combines all of those experiences and interests, with the vulnerability and honesty I always craved from lifestyle media. There are never any ads, affiliates, or sponsors here—just genuine recommendations. Welcome to this little corner of the internet! With that, here are a few highlights and moments from this past week:
