The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.
As much as I love living in the Pacific Northwest, I’m reminded every time I return to Southern California just how much this state feels like home. After all, I was born and raised in L.A. (before moving to Reno in middle school) and have spent more years of my life here than anywhere else. The oak trees, sunshine, and ocean breeze are instantly soothing.
This weekend, one of my best friends, who I met during my twenties in L.A., got married in Ojai, an idyllic town in the valley southeast of Santa Barbara. Our friend Alice and I flew into L.A., where we rented a car and road-tripped up to Santa Barbara, before making our way to Ojai. It was one of those weddings where you can feel the joy and love radiating off of the couple, and every detail was impeccable, from the couple’s best friend as officiant, to berries and cream served in silver coupes at the end of the evening, and the venue, which is the backyard of the groom’s family home, where the couple now lives.
