The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.
I got hit by burnout hard early this week. I felt like I was swimming through drying concrete to finish anything. There wasn’t even any singular huge task, but a thousand tiny tasks that multiplied anytime I blinked: emails, health insurance to-dos, organization projects, recipes to develop, even friends I needed to text back. Every day felt like an absolute battle against my to-do list until I hit a wall and just… stopped.
By Thursday morning, I had gotten my “Must Dos” out of the way, but still had a thousand little things on my list. I went to get a blood test early in the morning (still working on balancing my hormones for my PMDD), only to learn it was cancelled. I’d been fasting for it and was starving, so I made a game-time decision and grabbed my favorite breakfast sandwich in Portland (the Yolko Ono + Havarti + Caramelized Onion, to be exact), which I brought home and ate while watching ‘The Idea of You.’ Reader, it’s the best decision I’ve made all week. Though I felt like I could get in trouble any moment for “playing hooky,” I thoroughly enjoyed my morning off. By the time I finished the movie (which I loved, by the way!), I felt super-charged. I knocked out half my to-do list in a matter of hours, all because I took time to actually rest. Go figure!
But, the best news of all came later in the day: The kick-off launch event for my book, You’re Safe Here, is official! Come join me at one of my favorite bookstores, P&T Knitwear in New York on Saturday, June 22nd! I’ll be in conversation with the fabulous writer
, and you can buy a book bundle to get my novel three days before the official release date—I can’t wait to see you there! Spots are limited, but you can grab your spot here!Speaking of travel, I’m publishing this from Seattle, where I’m visiting a friend from college for the weekend. We spent the day bopping around Fremont yesterday, and are doing a big bike ride today, but let me know if you have any recommendations for spots to eat and grab coffee!
