Sunday Edition: How I Really Spent This Past Week
Pulling back the curtain with a new series.
Hello! I’m trying something new here. Every Tuesday, I write open and honestly about my life, but there’s always something missing. To stay organized (and sane), issues often go live two to three weeks after I write them, which means the smaller, in-between moments and observations get lost in the shuffle. As Morning Person grows, I’m working to challenge myself to break down my “lifestyle blogger” walls and be congruent. I want my Online Self to reflect my In-Person Self, which means being more honest about the things that resonated with me each week. This is important to me for a few reasons:
I want to normalize the in-between. The essays in Tuesday’s issues are largely “tied up with a bow.” They’re topics I’ve explored, thought about, and am ready to deliver to your inbox as a complete package. Many of the thoughts below are in-process observations (that you may see a larger post around later!)
…and the less-than-glamorous. I’m currently typing from an auto repair lobby as I wait for my car to get fixed.
I think you’ll enjoy it! Okay, maybe that’s a bit presumptuous, but some of my favorite newsletter issues, blog posts, and Instagram captions are random brain dumps and collections that don’t follow a theme (Maybe Baby’s “15 Things I Consumed This Week” and Cup of Jo’s weekly links come to mind). I hope you enjoy this one!
An opportunity to connect. Like I said, I love reading random anecdotes, recommendations, and reflections. If you feel moved to do so, please share yours in the comments!
It’s helpful for my own growth… and maybe yours? At this point, I’m comfortable curating an online persona that’s an airbrushed version of myself—I’ve done it my entire career, first as a food writer then as a lifestyle writer. It’s much scarier to say, “Okay, here’s where I’m really at this week,” which is why it feels important.
I’ll still be saving the big things and recommendations for Tuesday’s issues and the Sunday Edition may not come every Sunday (I want to begin slowly, testing it out), but you can expect excerpts from journal entries, quotes from poems and articles, product recs, and honest takes from the previous week. It’ll always be short and sweet and is my way of pulling back the curtain. I hope you enjoy it—but please let me know (by commenting or replying here) with your honest thoughts! Here goes nothing:
