The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.

Recreating my dinner last week from Pastificio d’Oro

It’s been 481 days 7 days since a snowstorm hit Portland, though it’s felt like an eternity… We initially got a few inches of snow, which was exciting but benign enough that friends came over for dinner the next day. Then came the ice. The thing about Portland is that we aren’t use to “severe” weather here, so the entire city shut down, replaced by an ice rink. While Toast and I were able to venture outside on Monday for a slow drive and very windy walk amongst the downed trees, we stayed completely hunkered down the rest of the week. I ran out of fresh groceries almost immediately, but am incredibly lucky that I only lost power for one night (over 160,000 lost power during this storm). I also came down with my first cold of the season and used my time at home to rearrange some furniture, get creative with freezer and pantry staples, and dig into your responses to the Morning Person survey, which I’ve outlined below… including options for our February book club!
