The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.
As I write this from my couch this morning, it feels like it’s the first time I’ve sat still in a week. After a wedding in San Diego, I returned to Portland for one day before heading to Las Vegas to see Dead & Co. at the Sphere with my brother, his girlfriend, and my boyfriend. Despite spending high school in Nevada, it was my first real* time in Vegas, and second time seeing the Grateful Dead. The two shows we went to, on Thursday and Friday, completely blew me away. I had high expectations for the Sphere, but was beyond impressed by the scope and use of the visuals in creating psychedelic images and transforming the space into some of their most beloved shows, including Cornell ‘77 and an artificial “wall of sound,” the over-the-top sound system they set up for every show during a run in the mid-’70s. Even with the chaotic travel and some major flight delays, it was so worth it. Today, I’m heading to my cohort’s graduation from our Master’s program—if all goes as planned, I’ll be walking next year! What a way to kick-off June. Read on for photos and updates from my week…
