30+ Cafés, Hikes, and Must-Visit Restaurants in Taos, New Mexico
A downloadable guide to Taos, New Mexico.
I never would have some across this part of this world if two of my best friends hadn’t fallen in love with the high desert and moved here five years ago. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to visit Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico several times—to explore, attend a wedding, and go skiing—but it wasn’t until earlier this month, when I spent a full week-plus at my friend Betsy’s home in Taos, that I was able to fully sink in and explore. In that time, I found myself falling in love with this place, diving into her favorite spots, as well as your recommendations. Here are a few highlights, plus a downloadable Google map for your next trip:

Juliette at Hotel Willa. I loved this trendy restaurant, nestled into a gorgeous new hotel, so much that we came back multiple times—the burger is so, so good.
The Love Apple. The cornbread and savory butter alone is worth a visit for dinner.
Tomorrow and Tomorrow. I stumbled into this coffee shop after visiting the nearby Saturday farmers’ market and want to tote it back to Portland with me. It serves incredible lattes (I got a decaf Kobucha Squash latte), plus fresh-baked bread and excellent lunch bowls, and organic wine later in the day.
West Rim Trail. This trail snakes along the rim of the Rio Grande, offering dramatic desert-scapes and views of the canyon.
Shed Project. I didn’t have a chance to attend one of these members-only, exclusive dinners but they look amazing if you’re local to Taos!
