Go-To Outfits I've Saved on Pinterest and Recreated from Items in My Closet
Throw this on and go.
Welcome to Friday Edition of Morning Person! Quick, inspiring recommendations, tips, and recipes you can immediately apply to your own life.
Earlier this week, I shared the pieces in my closet I’ve worn a million times, and how I use them to create an outfit that doesn’t “expire,” or one that looks just as good in the evening as it did when you put it on that morning. The key is beginning with an extremely simple base—for me, often jeans and a tee—then adding an eye-catching accessory or intentional means of styling.

This way of dressing has meant I buy far fewer clothes, but it also means I occasionally feel uninspired by the “same old” pieces in my closet, and can’t rely on a new piece to reinvigorate things. On those mornings, I reference Pinterest boards I’ve created, with outfits that include classic pieces similar to those I already own.
Read on for five outfit formulas, and how I applied them, plus the Pinterest board I’ve been using lately!
One. Sporty Morning.

What I love about these:
Oversized top, either a slouchy sweatshirt or tee
Athletic shorts, like track shorts, boxers, or bike shorts
Structured bag that’s unexpected with an athletic look
Casual, but intentional shoe choice (like high socks with sneakers)
Two. Effortless Sweater + Jeans.

What I love about these:
The slightly undone look from looser-fitting jeans
…but that’s pulled-together with a structured bag or polished shoe
The visible collar beneath an over-sized sweater, which lends itself the quality of not trying too hard

Three. Casual Monochrome.

What I love about these:
Oh to be as cool as Zoe Kravitz, rocking wired headphones in New York…
It emphasizes the silhouette of the clothes, like a drop-crotch or oversized tee
And is soo easy to throw on and head out the door!

Four. Vintage Jeans + Tank.

What I love about these:
My absolute favorite summer outfit, for its nonchalance
It places the emphasis on your body (sun-kissed summer arms!), without being too overt
Again, Zoe!

Five. At the Beach.

What I love about these:
A little bit dirtbag, a little bit cute—there’s tension in the mystery. Will she hop on a skateboard after she’s done with that iced maple latte?? Did she wash her hair under that hat?? Only she knows.

Okay wait I'm loving your take on the collar showing underneath your sweatshirt because sometimes I feel self-conscious if mine is showing lol
Love these looks! Convincing me to thrift more vintage sweatshirts.
