It took me fewer than 24 hours to fall completely in love with Missoula, Montana, and begin asking, “Wait, should I move here??” I traveled there for a long weekend to attend the new Zootown Festival, but had plenty of time to explore the nature, unbeatable ice cream, and restaurants. Read on for a map of my favorite spots, including a few highlights below:
Kim Williams Trail. This trail picks up in downtown Missoula and follows the river into a canyon that just keeps getting more beautiful, the farther in you go, with plenty of off-shoots for trails that go deeper into the forest. A gorgeous way to start the day.
Ice cream shops. The cardamom flavor at Big Dipper is worth the long line this quintessential shop draws, as or the specialty flavors at Sweet Peaks—I had one infused with pine and orange essence that was unreal.
Higgins St. There are so many spots worth visit on this street that runs through the heart of downtown, but my friends and I all loved Basal, a casual, healthy restaurant so much, we ate there for three meals—two breakfasts (their vegetable bowl is delicious), and a lunch. They serve bone-broth, high-quality ingredients, and even bulletproof coffee. Their owner Julie came to recognize us, and was so sweet and welcoming!
