Hi Leslie,

Good luck with your new venture on Patreon! Part of what drew me to Substack is the ability to read all of my favorite newsletters in one space. I won’t be heading over to Patreon, as I find some of their content moderation to be troubling, and they laid off 20% of their workforce just a few days ago, but I hope it is a great move for you creatively and financially.

Curious to dig in and read more about this change --- and a little disheartened to be honest as someone who was just charged yesterday for my Substack monthly subscription. Fully recognize this could just be the specific timing of my subscription renewing but it feels a little disingenuous to say that I am getting 2 "free" months on Patreon if I opt in!

I feel the same way...I was just charged this morning for my renewal :-/

Mine was mid-month and I'm not intending to add another platform to follow so feel kind of like I paid for something that I didn't fully get.

I have really loved your content and looked forward to receiving each installment. Alas, I must echo what others have said... I'm not interested in "upgrading" to Patreon. I wish you well with this new endeavor.

Since you had paused paid subs here, I can't see when my subscription would have ended, and when I clicked through to Patreon it is giving me 3 months and then charging me for an annual one again after that - but I have no way to confirm if that is correct now that I can't see my sub end date in Substack.

Whoa!!!

Sad by this, but support you! I did the switch, but I don't know if my annual was captured? It said I would be charged again in two months, which shouldn't be correct, but I can no longer see the original date for my annual since subscription billings were paused!

I had the same issue, my last annual subscription should have gone until November, but it’s showing me as being charged again in August. I don’t love the approach if it’s working out that part of what I’ve already paid for, I won’t be getting

Hi Leslie, where you go I’ll follow! However it said I’d be signing up at £5 per month, and then when I put payment in it’s saying £6 per month? Seems off, especially given the conversion rate between USD and GBP

It’s £5 + VAT, so £6 total.

Love this for you and will try to figure out how to follow you over in the next two free months. But my computer flags Patreon as spam, and doesn't allow me to access it. It's a work IT thing, so not within my control.

For those struggling to claim their free months in Patreon without paying to resubscribe, I finally figured out I needed to subcribe, complete with setting up payment, then go into Settings -> Memberships -> Cancel Now under Morning Person. This gave me the option to automatically cancel once it was up for renewal after my free months.

Hello! What an exciting change. I wanted to clarify - for those who paid as founding members to this newsletter (I forget the exact phrasing!), are you granting 12m of access or will we continue to have access with no expiration?
