The Sunday Edition is Tuesday’s little sister—off-the-cuff updates I’d bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend.

I know I’ve landed on a worthwhile Morning Person topic when I have an outsized or unexpected emotional reaction to something, whether deep regret around aspects of my divorce, my white-knuckled grip on perfection, or, in this case: My complete obsession with owning an Oura ring, a “smart ring” that tracks biometrics. For months, I jotted down notes in my phone beginning with the observation, “Internal and external sense of not feeling adequate.” I had an idea of where I wanted to start, but no idea how to end it. Even as I scheduled a draft of it to go live, I had the sense that it was missing something.
Late Monday night, I pulled it open and ended up completely rewriting the second half as soon as I realized that I had been subconsciously protecting my own role in upholding the exact tension I was criticizing in the post.
People sometimes ask me how I can publish something as intimate as a photo of my bedroom (as I will in next week’s post!). The truth is that it’s fun and easy for me to share beautifully styled images of my home—what’s far harder are the internal reflections that hit on something deeper and messier. I’m endlessly grateful to have a community of engaged and thoughtful people willing to jump headfirst into the mess with me. Okay, shall we get into the chaos that was this week? Ft. book tour dates (!), my licensing exam, a conversation about social media addiction, and a trip to California…
I got to see my book for the first time the week! While I’ve had early “advanced reader copies,” or ARCs as they call them in the ‘biz, my editor sent me the final hardcover that you’ll all have access to in one month! My boyfriend recorded it as I nearly sweated through my shirt trying to open the package it came in. Which means—it’s nearly time for my book tour! I’m beginning with a pre-launch party in New York then heading to the west coast for a complete whirlwind of a week, with the possibility of more dates to come. Click the links below to RSVP or the date add to your calendar! I am so excited to meet so many of you in person!
